RUNWAY: Kenneth Ning SS18

Kenneth Ning's latest collection, titled Protocol 18, explored the now-muddy divide between hackers and the government, with mass surveillance now common to the exploits utilized by governments to spy on adversaries and their own people. This last point is made more poignant by the recent worldwide ransomware attacks that hit some 80 counties in the past two months. So, what did the collection look like? It was disheveled with a mismatch of fabrics, colors and fit. Striped shirts had swathes of fabric affixed to them while tailored pieces were far too wide, drooping significantly off the models shoulders. As for the footwear, in lieu of laces were nails to fasten them. The purposeful entropy of the collection brought home the reality of what living in 2017 or 2018 to be more specific is like.
